Happy Birthday Dr. King! A glorious new GF vegan menu for delivery Tuesday, 1/17.

Hello and happy rainy afternoon!

Next week, we will celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest leaders in the civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Without his work and his sacrifice, the world we live in would be a very different place. It's hard to imagine that just a generation or two ago, it would have been difficult for Earnest and me to eat in the same restaurant, let alone share the life that we do! Every day, I am thankful for the hard work and sacrifice of Dr. King and his contemporaries.

In honor of Dr. King's memory, I did a little research into what his favorite foods were. He loved pie, especially pecan. So we are tackling the ultimate challenge this week: Gluten free vegan pecan pie! Dr. King also loved cornbread, and who doesn't? So we'll enjoy our favorite baked beans with sweet potato corn muffins too!

It's also my grandfather's birthday next week. He would have been in his late nineties by now. While my grandfather and Dr. King were very different men, they both enjoyed food that was simple, soulful, and all-American. My grandfather came from a farming family, and loved hearty food. He particularly loved corn bread, sweet potatoes, apples, and nuts, so you'll see those ingredients featured prominently this week.

Exploring new experiences, honoring our diverse traditions, and supporting our local farmers even through the challenging winter months. A perfect lens through which to create a fantastic menu!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Much love,
Chef Mary

Please place orders by Sunday night at midnight for delivery on Tuesday, 1/17.

As always, all the ingredients I use are the highest quality available. I do not use any meat, dairy, or egg ingredients. I know some vegans don't use honey, and out of respect for that choice I make a note whenever a dish contains it. I don't use soy, peanuts, wheat, or other gluten containing grains. I DO use fresh fruits and veggies; local and/or organic whenever possible. I also use organic seeds, nuts, beans, and non-gluten containing whole grains. If you have an allergy or sensitivity to anything at all, please let me know. If you have a question about any ingredient or method, please don't hesitate to ask!

This week's heat-o-meter will register on the lower end. Plenty of fresh, warm flavors, but not very spicy.

I look forward to sharing some gorgeous, soulful cooking with you and your family!

Much love,

Chef Mary
