Japan Fundraiser! AND please place orders for Friday delivery! GF Vegan Delights!

Happy Tuesday, Boston!

It is time to place orders for Friday delivery! Please place your order by midnight, Wednesday night. Menu is below!

In other news, tomorrow, Wednesday, there is a fundraiser taking place to help the people of Japan. It is an online bake sale. (I learned about it too late to participate, alas!) But! I just wanted to let you know that it is a way you and I can help the people affected by the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. Food rationing is pretty severe in affected areas right now, and this is a way we can help a few more people eat a little better.

Proceeds are donated to Second Harvest Japan.
http://www.2hj.org/index.php/eng_home

For my part, I will make a donation to Second Harvest Japan of 10% of gross sales on Friday's orders.

Here is the link to the blog where the bake sale is being hosted:

There are a lot of people contributing. There are even some GF and vegan offerings. Check it out!

Thank you!

Love,
Chef Mary

Online Bake Sale to Help People in Japan

Hello, good people!

It has been a hard couple of weeks around the world. The middle east is in turmoil, and parts of Japan stand in ruins.

It is hard to listen to the news and simply not know how to help. Well, now there is a small way we can help the people of Japan.

A food blogger, The Tomato Tart, has had the idea to hold a bake sale. Online. Proceeds go to Second Harvest Japan, and will help feed people in need. There is such a severe shortage of food and water right now, every bit helps.

The auction will be held on Wednesday, March 30. Please check out her blog to get involved, and to bid on Wednesday! There seem to be a few options that are gluten free, and at least one or two that are vegan. Hooray!

Online Bake Sale for Japan! March 30!

Thank you!

A new menu for Mardi Gras!

Hello, and Happy Weekend!

Did you know that next Tuesday is Mardi Gras? A few of this week's items are inspired by Mardi Gras, and by the cuisine of New Orleans.

SOUP

Mushroom Soup $6

PLATES

Millet with Roasted Purply-Red and Gold Beets and Sauteed Red Chard. A celebration of the colors of Mardi Gras: Purple for Justice, Green for Faith, and Gold for Power. Topped with Toasty Squash Seeds. $10

Dirty Rice: Traditionally, dirty rice is full of non-vegan bits. Ours is brown basmati rice mixed with lots of beautiful veggies, and homemade rice-oat sausage crumbles. So good! Stuffed into a roasted Acorn Squash half. $9

Roasted Hedgehog Potatoes served with Artichoke Hearts and Spanish Romesco Sauce (contains nuts.) $10

Hummus! Made from Raw, Sprouted Sunflower Seeds. Served with Celery and Carrots to dip. $9

BAKERY

Sweet Potato Corn Muffins $9 half dozen, $16 full dozen

King Cake! The traditional Mardi Gras King Cake is baked in a ring, with a nut or a small toy baby hidden inside one piece. Our variation is individual Apple Cakes. One of them has a whole almond baked inside! If it's yours, you win a free half dozen muffins next week! $6

Gluten Free Focaccia! Made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, infused with spices and herbs. So good! Great with a bowl of Mushroom Soup, or dipped in Sprouted Sunflower Seed Hummus! $6 for a nice hunk.
