Rather Crafty Super Bowl Party Menu! For delivery Tuesday, 1/31

Good morning everyone!

The Superbowl is coming up, and it's going to be big! It's Pats v. Giants this year. To get us all in the mood for the big game, I've got some great Super Bowl party food on the menu this week.

I confess, we don't have one of those TV converter boxes, so we won't be watching the game at home. But maybe we'll bring some bean dip with us and catch the amazing ads (I know, I'm a geek) out and about!

Please place orders by midnight Sunday night for delivery on Tuesday, 1/31.

See you soon!

Much love,
Chef Mary

Gung hay fat choy! Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Year of the Dragon! Gung hay fat choy! (That's how you say Best Wishes in the New Year in Chinese!)

Monday, January 23 is the first day of the Year of the Dragon. The celebrations go on all week, so you have plenty of time to enjoy delicious food inspired by the Lunar New Year. We aren't sticking to completely traditional Chinese recipes this week, but we are taking more of a pan-Asian fusion approach. As always, it's vegan, soy free, and gluten free. Wow!

My friend Alex of Alex's Ugly Sauce has made a fantastic hot sauce with Thai Dragon chiles. The Dragon Sauce has a brighter kind of flavor, a little different from the original Ugly Sauce that you all love when I make my famous burritos. I adore both sauces, and wanted to feature the Dragon Sauce because it's the Year of the Dragon, after all! If you want some Dragon or original Ugly Sauce to call your very own, you can find Alex at www.alexsuglysauce.com

I want to give a little shout-out to my brother Stephen and friend Jenny who are currently living in Szechuan province in China. Happy New Year!

And without further ado, here it is, a wonderful new menu to celebrate the Chinese New Year! Please order by Sunday night for delivery on Tuesday, 1/24. Email me at rathercraftymary@gmail.com to order!

Much love,

Chef Mary

Happy Birthday Dr. King! A glorious new GF vegan menu for delivery Tuesday, 1/17.

Hello and happy rainy afternoon!

Next week, we will celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest leaders in the civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Without his work and his sacrifice, the world we live in would be a very different place. It's hard to imagine that just a generation or two ago, it would have been difficult for Earnest and me to eat in the same restaurant, let alone share the life that we do! Every day, I am thankful for the hard work and sacrifice of Dr. King and his contemporaries.

In honor of Dr. King's memory, I did a little research into what his favorite foods were. He loved pie, especially pecan. So we are tackling the ultimate challenge this week: Gluten free vegan pecan pie! Dr. King also loved cornbread, and who doesn't? So we'll enjoy our favorite baked beans with sweet potato corn muffins too!

It's also my grandfather's birthday next week. He would have been in his late nineties by now. While my grandfather and Dr. King were very different men, they both enjoyed food that was simple, soulful, and all-American. My grandfather came from a farming family, and loved hearty food. He particularly loved corn bread, sweet potatoes, apples, and nuts, so you'll see those ingredients featured prominently this week.

Exploring new experiences, honoring our diverse traditions, and supporting our local farmers even through the challenging winter months. A perfect lens through which to create a fantastic menu!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Much love,
Chef Mary
